Operation Santa Paws Now Open

The annual animal-nice drive is in full swing.

You don't have to be the person who dresses in the full Santa outfit and visits pups in shelters, although we can imagine that might be one of the best volunteer gigs ever.

But you can give squeakies and soft toys and chewies and treats to Operation Santa Paws, the annual drive to lend some love to shelter and rescue hounds during the holidays.

The Long Beach-based group is also looking for "shelter cleaning supplies" which is a great thing to request. So many people gravitate toward the little purple felt squirrel, but having a sparkly area in which to play with said toy is essential.

Read more about how the annual event could use your help and donations. The final day is Saturday, Dec. 18. And if you've ever walked in the mega, 500-dog-strong Howl'oween Parade, you likely know that Justin Rudd is at the helm of this push, and has been for several years. Meaning a lot of muttlies will get the merry treatment for sure.
