Postponements Aplenty

Have big plans for the weekend? Check before heading out.

Remember back in early January, when we are all rocking the tanning butter and the shorts and chortling to ourselves because it was balmy and sunny and not at all wet and damp and chilly?

Stow the tanning butter.

We're due to get a last-blast of blustery rain, the storm we typically would have gotten a month or two ago, over St. Patrick's Day weekend. This is being widely reported in weather circles, of course, but we're here today to gently remind anyone doing anything over the weekend to check twice on wherever they are headed before heading out.

A number of postponements have been announced in the last day, with more to come. It must be quite a storm, right, when the postponements are arriving two to three days ahead of an event? Winter, don't you know spring is nearly here?

Here's what's crossed our desk thus far:

Buy Local Santa Monica has rescheduled. The new date for the sidewalk fair is on Saturday, March 31.

OC Marketplace, which throws one of the biggest St. Patrick's Day fests in the area, has canceled its party (the sad crying photo that accompanies the Marketplace's post says it all). No new date has been announced.

LitFest Pasadena, which was aiming for a pretty day in the park on March 17, has also postponed. The new date is Saturday, May 12 -- best watch this space for details.

If others arrive we'll be sure to add.
