Record Crowds Expected for Coachella

It promises to be crowded.

This year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is a sell-out, and is expected to be the best attended in the past three years, according to producers.

Around 75,000 attendees are expected each day, according to Marcee Rondan, senior vice president at Goldenvoice. That would break the record 180,000 people who attended the 2007 festival, which was headlined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bjork.

Hip-hop artist Jay-Z is expected to headline on Friday, followed by the British alternative band Muse on Saturday and a multi-media show by Gorillaz on Sunday.

Camping passes for festival goers wanting to stay on the site had sold out earlier than the admission tickets, according to the festival's website.

No more single or three-day passes are available at the box office for the festival, which starts Friday and runs through Sunday at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, according to the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice promotions.
