Save the Date: October 6th

NICK HORNBY: "High Fidelity" will always be in our top five list. And writer Nick Hornby will be the author we turn to when we want complete engagement. The British scribe is stopping by the Skirball for a night of chat, and to read from his new work "Juliet, Naked" on October 6th. Admission is free, but reservations are necessary. The reservations just opened on August 17th, but we wouldn't wait on this one.

GOO GOO DOLLS: We should say, The Goo Goo Dolls with a brrr-inducing twist. The rockers will be heading for Honda Center on October 6th to play Improv Ice; also on the bill are skaters of the Olympic, World, and National Champion stripe. If you're a Goo Goo person and you know your triple lutzes and Salchows, you probably have to be there. Interesting: The Goo Goo Dolls only have one Improv Ice date listed on their site. So October 6th is the night.

KCRW PRESENTS ROBYN HITCHCOCK: We've spoken of our affection for this artist's pop-psychedelic proclivities; if you're a fan, and we're hoping you are, he's playing Spaceland on October 6th. We think it is a perfect marriage of intellectual performer and intimate venue. The Venus 3 will be joining. Oh, The Venus 3 is comprised of REM's Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey of Young Fresh Fellows, and Bill Rieflin, drummer for Ministry.
