Vigil for "Soul Train" Creator Don Cornelius Set for Thursday Night

    Vigil for "Soul Train" Creator Don Cornelius Set for Thursday Night

    A vigil was scheduled for Thursday evening to honor the memory of "Soul Train" creator and record producer, Don Cornelius.

    The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. at Leimert Park, located at 3415 W. 43rd Place.

    Cornelius died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to police. Paramedics responded to the producer's Mulholland Drive home at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday after his son, who had just spoken to Cornelius, called 911.

    Police did not find a suicide note.
