Music fans have had a couple of months to get used to the news that Spaceland will be closing, and another cosmically monikered club will be opening in its place (that would be Satellite).
Now the closing looks all the more real with the start of the last Monday Night Residency Series, a staple on many local fans' calendars. The series, which spotlighted one band over a quartet of Monday nights, begins its last monthly run on Monday, Jan. 3 with The Belle Brigade.
Alex and Sam, The Sweet Hurt, and Wyoming are also slated to play. Showtime is 8:30 p.m.
The question now is what Monday night go-out will shake off those early-in-the-week blues for people looking to rock out, and for free, too? Let there be another contender, and soon.
