“Spring of Love” Arrives at Tet Festival

An annual three-day event returns to Garden Grove.

It may be the taddest bit overcast and chilly out, but we're happy that it is the "Spring of Love" in Garden Grove.

That's the theme of the 29th annual Tet Festival, a traditional Vietnamese celebration that welcomes the floweriest of seasons and the new year, too. How nice, also, that the fest is falling over Valentine's weekend in 2010.

What visitors can expect: delicious food like banh khot (small pancakes ideal for snacking) and mut (fruity bites). The Miss Vietnam Southern California Tet Pageant 2010. Festive firecrackery. Contests focusing on chess and floral arranging. Plenty of kid-nice rides. And about 100,000 other revelers (the festival, which is hosted by the Union of Vietnamese Student Associations of Southern California, says it is "the largest Vietnamese festival in the world outside Vietnam."

The "Spring of Love" 2010 Tet Festival is at Garden Grove Park in Garden Grove on Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th.
