Just when we were ready to dig out our fall plaids -- you're digging out your fall plaids too, yes? -- along comes one more summer concert series.
And any summer concert series that's starting, not wrapping, in the middle of August is probably worth talking about. But that isn't the biggest detail about the Queen Mary's Summer Concert Series, which opens on Friday, Aug. 13.
Rather the stars are the headlines. Joan Baez starts the series on Friday, Aug. 13; she'll be followed by Smokey Robinson on Wednesday, Aug. 18, the Beach Boys on Aug. 19, and Lucinda Williams on Thursday, Aug. 26.
With Mr. Robinson and the Beach Boys playing back-to-back, we might even book a room for a night or two.
Also, there will be special guests. Roger McGuinn of the Birds will appear with Ms. Baez, while Chrissie Hynde is one of the stars joining Ms. Williams.
This is all going down in the events park adjacent to the ship. Tickets for the Joan Baez show start at $35.
