Super Adoption Super Love

Every pet adoption is a good adoption, of course; even a single, needing-a-home pup sitting on a volunteer's lap is worth attention and affection.

But when 1300 cats and dogs head for the same spot, at the same time? Well, it is time to haul out the word "Super," as Best Friends Animal Society does for its annual La Brea Tar Pits event. The Los Angeles Pet Super Adoption is happening on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22 in Hancock Park, which is the area nestled up against the pits and LACMA.

Both purebreeds and little muttlies will be available at the mega find-homes-a-thon, and just about every kind of kitty. And you've been to an adoption, maybe at a pet goods store? So you know these animals have names and stories, which the volunteers will surely spend a bit of time relating.

You'll also likely get to know several local rescue groups, including organizations that specialize in senior animals or particular breeds.

Are you already all goo-goo over Ozzie, pictured above? He'll be there. He loves you. He wants to go home with you. We just know it. And if not Ozzie, we're certain there's another furry one who will fit well with your casa.

The hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days.
