The Bowl Owns Oohing and Aahing

Three nights of a fireworks at a Hollywood landmark.

It's just a hunch, but we have a feeling that when the Hollywood Bowl publishes its schedule for the year, many people flip first to the Fourth to make sure the three-day, fireworks-laden extravaganza is still on.

And it always is. Because it is a local classic, and far in the future, when we have giant sky dome above us where electronic fireworks are shown, the Bowl will still be doing it old-school, because that is the way it should be.

The Fourth of July celebrations for 2010 run from Friday, July 2 through Sunday, July 4. Vince Gill is on the be-shelled stage, along with the U.S. Air Force Band of the Golden West. And the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

And might we just say that while we are always a fan of those waaaay-up-there benches at the Bowl, we especially like them come the Fourth. Because the fireworks go big, and you can see 'em just fine from your perch.

A nice night, an iconic LA night, a Bowl-y, beautiful thing, if you happen to like that. We do. We all do, probably.
