The Enjoying of Art for Free

Several spots are waiving admission during ArtNight Pasadena.

A dozen different institutions, museums, galleries, and spots will be participating in ArtNight Pasadena, an event that does indeed take place at night in Pasadena. And does it involve art? Well. The word does come first in the name.

Can we also add "free" to those three things? "Free ArtNight Pasadena" doesn't have quite the same ring, but this is an important thing to know.

ArtNight Pasadena is happening on Friday, May 20. The Armory Center for the Arts is on the participant list (a John M. White retrospective is on show, an exhibit has "humorous" overtones). Lineage Performing Arts Center will be moving and shimmying and dancing its way through the evening. And Mad for Hats! is still on at the Pasadena Museum of History.

Once you have mulled over the participants, and the free-ness of the night, you'll likely have to questions. One, how do I get around the Crown City? And two, will there be food trucks?

We want to answer question two first: yes. Question one is also a good one, seeing as how the venues are slightly spread out. But good news: Once you finish your food truck-purchased sliders, you'll want to board the free shuttle that's carting art lovers around town. The ArtNight hours are 6 to 10 p.m., and we'll just assume here you'll need all of 'em to get everything in.
