The LA Beer Float Showdown is Back

The 2nd annual event returns this Sunday

5 Falltacular Ways to Connect With Your Family
Last year's champ, the Golden State's beer float.

Are you in the mood for some ice cream? Perhaps some beer as well? Don’t want to make two stops? Well then stop by Verdugo Bar on Sunday for some tasty beer floats. Food GPS presents LA Beer Float Showdown II, where four teams will compete for your votes on who has the best beer float.

This years competitors include Ladyface Alehouse,Boneyard Bistro,Tony’s Darts Away and Simmzy’s, reports Food GPS:

Tony’s Darts Away is led by general manager and beer expert Paige Reilly. Boneyard Bistro brings the culinary stylings of chef-owner Aaron Robins and the beer expertise of bar manager Rory Snipes. Ladyface is the only team to incorporate house-made beer, courtesy of brewmaster Dave Griffiths. Simmzy’s contributes some of the top beer minds in the South Bay.

The champion will be someone new this year as last year's winners, the Golden State could not compete due to scheduling conflicts.

One float will be made by each team to be sampled by everyone in attendance. The floats will be judged on originality and flavor.

For those hungry for something else other than ice cream and beer, two food trucks, the Manila Machine and Mandoline Grill, will be around to supply their delicious food.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 11. Tickets are $25 in advance for those who pay using PayPal, or $30 at the door for those using cash. This includes admission and all four floats. Regardless of the method of payment, 50 percent of all the proceeds will go towards Share our Strength, an organization working to erase child hunger in the United States and Canada.
