Tonight: Chinatown Kicks Off the Holidays

Music and a tree with a theme that reflects the historic district.

CHINATOWN TREE LIGHTING: Now that we're firmly ensconced in December the tannenbaum to-dos are coming fast and festively. Up tonight is Chinatown's party; it also happens to be the historic district's first tree lighting. The branchy, neon-adjacent star will boast a "uniquely Chinatown theme," say the organizers. There will be music from Pasadena Music Center and Conservatory, too, and Con Bravura Brass. 6 p.m.

ADRIENNE BARBEAU SIGNING: Actor Adrienne Barbeau definitely knows horror with a bit of dash; have you seen "The Fog" (the one from 1980)? We trust you have. Now Ms. Barbeau has penned a vampy satire about Tinseltown and some of the fangs-out behavior that goes down. No need to wear your Nosferatu cape; just get to Abril Books in Glendale. 8 p.m.

12 DAYS OF HOLIDAY CHEER: It's only night two of this long Burbank-based happening. Tonight brings a sing-along at North End Pizzeria, but check out all the cheerful goings-on over the next several days. Pet Night with Santa -- that's Monday, Dec. 6 -- particularly tempts.
