Two Much: Art Night Pasadena + ARTwalk

Here's our feeling about the Crown City: It's already immensely cultural on any given day of the week, all year long. So expect Pasadena Art Weekend to amp up the art mightily with two packed days of paint-it-yourself family activities, mondo museums waiving entrance fees and spectacular sales on paintings and prints and photos and beyond.

Here's how Pasadena Art Weekend is parsed: Art Night Pasadena is on Friday, October 9th, and ARTwalk is on Saturday, October 10th. You can go to both, right? Clear your calendar.

We're jazzed about the Wayne Thiebaud show at the Norton Simon -- so many tasty treats painted with such whimsy -- and the fluttering flags work by Daniel Buren currently draped across One Colorado. The Armory's 20th Anniversary celebration is also continuing, with several interesting installations and pieces.

Of course. Do you remember the chuckling doll head from the Armory's "Good Doll, Bad Doll" show last year? The one hidden in the far corner? We remember it. Daily. Oh Armory. You do make an impact, and we thank you for that.

Expect, beyond the great art-looking, to spy other niceties here and there, like singers singing and hands-on pretty-stuff-making. We'd grab something smoothie-ish and land on a bench, listening to music in-between the museum- and gallery-hopping

Art Night Pasadena is happening at various venues around the city on the evening of October 9th; ARTwalk is in the Playhouse District on El Molino between Colorado and Green. ARTwalk's date is October 10th (daytime, not night, please note). Eye full hours/details.
