Up with Downtown Culver

The cinematic stretch is doing it up with dining deals.

When you're in the middle of Studio Central USA, a place where anything can and often does happen, at least on the big screen, you can bet that any sort of civic-minded soiree goes way beyond the putting of crepe paper and calling it a night.

We're of course hinting about Culver City, that bustling stretch built on yellow brick roads and cosmopolitan restaurants. The Land o' Culver is doing it up this summer with a monthly block party, where all sorts of businesses clustering around the historic downtown core offer all sorts of discounts and live music shows and things of that sort.

The next Downtown Culver City Summer Block Party is on Wednesday, July 21 from 5-9 p.m.; there are three more to go in 2010, on August 18, September 15, and October 20. All third Wednesdays, for those calendaring at home.

Some of the July 21 deals/to-dos that have caught the eye include a complimentary glass of sangria at Frâiche, all-you-can-eat mussels at Meet (price: $19.95), and the entertainment goings-on at the Kirk Douglas lobby.

Stroll-y, Culver City, very stroll-y indeed. You got us, but then we always want to be gotten by you.
