When Love Can't Wait

If love is blind, you can get an immediate eye-opener Monday at the Los Angeles County Reigstrar-Recorder's offices

Whenever love is in the air, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder will be there with a handy online marriage license application that couples can fill out to reduce wait times at the Norwalk office.

Once again, the office extended Valentine's Day services for couples wishing to tie the knot -- immediately. No appointment necessary, just verify you're over 18 and fill out the application.

"Valentine’s Day is always our busiest day of the year for weddings," said Dean C. Logan, Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. "In an effort to provide the highest level of service to couples wishing to marry on Feb, 14, we are providing them the opportunity to obtain a marriage license and to be wed in a civil ceremony that same day."

The ceremony count was at about 130 early Monday afternoon.

Did you have second thoughts after hastily filling out the application? No problem. A marriage license is valid for 90 days from the date of issue.

The last time the RR-CC made this offer on Valentine's Day was 2008. Officials said 350 marriage licenses were issued and 271 marriage ceremonies were performed.

This year, the Norwalk location will have multiple wedding areas to reduce wait times between ceremonies. The RR-CC's six branch offices also will perform ceremonies.
