Weekend: "Back to the Future" Gathering

The DeLorean is pulling into Puente Hills Mall. Yessss.

5 Falltacular Ways to Connect With Your Family
Oct. 16, 2010: A general view as the Discretionary Award is presented for the 25th Anniversary of "Back to the Future" at Spike TV's "SCREAM 2010" 5th annual event held at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.

WE'RE GOING BACK: What? You thought the 25th Anniversary of "Back to the Future" meant that "The Power of Love" would be played once or twice on the radio? Au contraire. There's a *full week* of McFlyian to-dos, starting with a visit to the Puente Hills Mall, where Doc first sent Marty back. A DeLorean is scheduled to show, too. That's on Friday, Nov. 5, but there's more. Better get "Power" playing and quick. (Note that the Nov. 5 screening is sold out, but check out the full run of Burbank-based events through Nov. 12.)

CALIFORNIA STATE PARKS IN FILM: And television, too. Besides making our famous films in mall parking lots, sometimes we set up the camera under a grove of oaks, or in a river surrounded by ferns. On Nov. 6 and 7, fans of the California State Parks and "Star Wars" and "M.A.S.H." and more will get together to Q&A with stars and screen good stuff at Paramount Studios and 20th Century Fox.

BEST FRIENDS SUPER ADOPTION: You may go to the La Brea Tar Pits on Sunday, Nov. 7. You may hold and cuddle a small spotted kitten. You may gladly and proudly take care of that kitten for the next decade and a half, well into her senior cat days. And you will always be grateful you decided to stop by the tar pits on that particular Sunday in November.

ICE at Santa Monica: If you've noticed the green-and-red-thing going on stores, all the ornaments lining the aisles, you've probably thought, well, just when does this whole holiday thing really start to kick in? Answer: Friday, Nov. 5, when the seasonal rinks heat up with the debut of ICE. It's cooling down Fifth and Arizona well into 2011. And if you're near Woodland Hills, that rink is getting going, too. Winter ahead.

Weekend: Roads? Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads

[LA] Weekend: Roads? Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads
Except the 60 Freeway. That takes you to Puente Hills Mall for a "Back to the Future" re-creation.

STROLLING ON 7TH STREET: You may know Pershing Square. And Main? Your main street. But have you got a real handle on 7th, which was, for year's, one of downtown's major shopping scenes? LA Conservancy is leading a tour on Nov. 7. You'll see inside some great buildings, too. It's a hefty six-hour deal, but you can preen all you want about your 7th-based smarts after going.
