INDIA.ARIE: Uplifting songs full of stories and history and positive vibes are part of the reason India.Arie has remained a sensation for well over a decade. Not only has she won a few well-deserved GRAMMY awards (in addition to being nominated for many more), but the chanteuse was a major player on the Lilith Fair circuit back in the day. (Actually, we were just thinking of Lilith Fair and how it might be due for a revival; maybe India can lead the way?) Mostly, we adore the soulful sound of her beautiful voice backed by a guitar and little else. "Good Mourning" is a heartbreaker of a song, but we think anything she selects to sing during her Los Angeles stop will be gorgeous and meaningful. Wednesday, April 15th. Club Nokia, 800 W.
