Oh that voice. "The Greatest" singer Cat Power brings her power to the Avalon for a two-night run, starting on Tuesday, February 10.

THE GREATEST: Cat Power -- Charlyn Marshall -- has been an indie darling for some time, but "darling" implies that she hasn't really made waves in the mainstream. Not true. Since her album "The Greatest" knocked-out critics and fans alike a couple of years back, the singer-songwriter has been steaming through stages with power. And one powerful voice. Tuesday, February 10 and Wednesday, February 11. Avalon Hollywood, 1735 Vine, Hollywood. 323-462-8900

LARRY WILMORE: His bitingly funny commentaries on "The Daily Show" are not to be missed (he is the show's "Senior Black Correspondent," for those who don't tune in often). When not bantering with Jon Stewart, the writer-comedian was penning "I'd Rather We Got Casinos: And Other Black Thoughts." He's reading from it, and signing, at Vroman's. Tuesday, February 10, 7PM. 695 E. Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena. 626-449-5320

GRINDHOUSE FILM FESTIVAL: It's back, it's a tribute to filmmaker Cirio Santiago, and the titles say so much: "The Muthers" and "Vampire Hookers" (yep, that was muthers with a "u"). But while they say a lot, we're betting there is much, much more to learn, know, experience. The films, by the way, are circa mid-1970s, so you'll want to wear terrycloth, pleather and/or poly. Tuesday, February 10. 7:30PM. New Beverly Cinema, 7165 W. Beverly Boulevard, Los Angeles. 323-938-4038
