TOKYO! AT THE NUART: Sluggish, beige-y, unchallenging are not words you'll ever find attached to a Michel Gondry film. (We still think about "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," a film he directed, several times a month at least.) So to say that "TOKYO!," a movie containing three smaller films, including one that Gondry directed, has been much anticipated in many corners of film fandom, is definitely an understatement. The candy-colored "TOYKO!" site promises an appearance by Ayako Fujitani, who is in the Gondry segment, at the Friday, March 20, 7:30PM Nuart showing. Even if you can't make the theater to see the actress, catching the flick is recommended. Nuart Theatre, 11272 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles. 310-281-8223
ALSO ON FRIDAY, MARCH 20: Those merry musicians that comprise the Dan Band frolic at Avalon Hollywood; Franco de Vita sings from "Simplemente la Verdad" at the Nokia Theatre; and those mavens of mellowness Four Tet explore sound spaces that surprise, at The Echo.
