What You're Doing Tonight: March 5th

NEKO CASE: Neko Case is one of those artists that like 2,698 people think is theirs alone, that they knew about her first, before the other 2,697 people, no discussion. We know about three of those 2,698 people, and we're cool with that, since we were probably late to the whole "getting-to-know-Neko-Case" deal, but now that we're here, we're happy. We're crazy for her alt-country, sippin'-whiskey-while-watching-a-Tucson-sunset-ish weariness. Oh, that lady's got style to spare. She's playing a free show at Amoeba, and we're guessing a goodly portion of those first 2,698 fans will be present. Thursday, March 5, 7PM. 6400 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood. 323-245-6400

JIMMY EAT WORLD: They've been around for over a decade and a half -- a full 15ish years -- and are still making beautiful, rocking, emo-ish songs. Whether they were one of the first bands to really push that rock-emo thing into the mainstream is up to music buffs to quibble about, but there's no quibbling about this Arizona-born outfit's longevity and classic sound. They're on the road to celebrate the 10th birthday of the album "Clarity"; hello, rocking '90s vibes. Where've you been at lately? Thursday, March 5, 8PM. Club Nokia, 800 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles.
