What You're Doing Tonight: March 6th

TOM JONES: Barely buttoned shirts, the link-heavy neck jewelry, the deep tans achieved poolside somewhere glamorous like the French Riviera, dead-sexy songs to make the ladies swoon: Suave cat Tom Jones became famous for all of these things (oh, right, and the fact that *a lot* of lady underwear got lobbed in his general direction) back in the heyday of the swinging, Carnaby-hip '60s. That he sang the theme to "Thunderball" is still one of the most impressive things to us. Really, how many artists or groups can claim to have done the opening to a James Bond flick? Oh, and that cover of "Kiss" with Art of Noise. Ice-cold cool. Friday, March 6, 9PM. Club Nokia, 800 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles

ALSO ON FRIDAY, MARCH 6: Ska greats The English Beat play Canyon Club (we confess that we are so fond of "I Confess"); Billy the Mime does what the other mimes don't, at Upright Citizens Brigade; and comedienne extraordinaire Lily Tomlin summons the precocious Edith Ann at Segerstrom Hall.
