Could you, "Rocky Horror"-style, stand in front of your television and recite all the words to "Frosty the Snowman" without one dropped syllable?
We probably all could, in this day and age. The Christmas television special has become a cherished -- we cherish 'em -- part of the holiday season. Cherished in all of its stop-motion-y, animated, feel-the-sugary-sweet-feelings wonderment.
The Paley Center for Media knows we're mad for merry televised entertainment. So they're running several classic screenings in the theater, including "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas," "Frosty," "Lamb Chop's Special Chanukah," and the Andy Williams specials.
But you've seen the Paley library. They're loaded with loads of goodies.
Other things you should know. This is free. Free! Free as Frosty dancing around some snow-covered hill, free. There will be hot chocolate (thanks Williams-Sonoma). Santa will be there on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th, between 11AM-2PM. And the Beverly Hills Trolley is running with Mrs. Claus aboard (there's an admission, please note).
