Collabs: Rodarte to Launch Holiday Collection for Target

Prepare to spend less than $80 on your New Year's Eve dress—Target has just announced that LA's own Rodarte will be the latest focus of its Go International range, with a 55-piece collection dropping nationwide on December 20. Recent CFDA womenswear award-winners Kate and Laura Mulleavy have created a line full of party dresses and layering pieces, which Target spokesman Joshua Thomas says were crafted with the sister act's trademark "eye for detail." "The collection incorporates a rich mix of patterns and fabrications and everything from sequins and bows to faux fur," he tells WWD. "The key with Rodarte is layering...There are stand-alone pieces and pieces that can be worn together to create an ensemble by layering different patterns, textures and prints.” It'll be interesting to see how the designers have adapted their painstakingly handmade, intellectual (and pricey) aesthetic for such a mass audience— luckily, it doesn't sound like they tried to reinterpret those thigh-high boots in pleather.
