How to Wear the Same Dress Every Day for a Year

Remember the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry dated a woman who either only had one dress that she wore every day, or had a closet full of identical dresses? Sheena Matheiken is trying something similar with the Uniform Project, in which she's going to wear the same dress every day for a year. In Matheiken's case, she really does have several versions of the dress, which is a simple black button-front designed by her friend Eliza Starbuck. Every day, Matheiken accessorizes it into a completely new outfit, posts a picture, and then gets readers to vote on what they think.

"I was raised and schooled in India where uniforms were a mandate in most public schools," she writes in her mission statement. "Despite the imposed conformity, kids always found a way to bend the rules and flaunt a little personality...I now want to put the same rules to test again, only this time I'm trading in the catholic school fervor for an eBay addiction and relocating the school walls to this wonderful place called the internet." There's a charitable tie-in, too—she's raising funds for the Akanksha Foundation, which helps educate slum children in India.
