If there are two things designer Karl Lagerfeld
loves most in this world, they are luxury and music. The face behind both an eponymous ready-to-wear line and Parisian fashion house Chanel
owns upwards of 40 iPods
and is constantly shifting from contemporary tunes to classical and back again. So it’s no surprise that the Kaiser incorporated music into his namesake FW09 collection presentation in Paris
this week. What was
shocking were the mink-covered scooter helmets (equipped with iPod capability) that Lagerfeld created in collaboration with helmet mavens Les Ateliers Ruby and Apple
and subsequently sent down the aforementioned catwalk. (Especially considering Chanel's Spring 09 haute couture presentation featured headgear constructed from recession-friendly office paper
“They’re road legal and feature full carbon fiber shells and ultra-soft burgundy nappa lambskin linings,” says Luxist. Talk about traveling in style. The mink-covered caps are also the perfect accompaniment to your new Chanel Segway. While the latter will cost you a cool $12 grand, prices for the fur helmets have not yet been released.
