LA is One of World's Most Stylish Cities

Survey ranks LA as No. 6 on its list of stylish hotspots

Sometime within the last 14 months, Angelenos became a bit more stylish, according to Forbes magazine.

A survey known as the Anholt-GfK Roper City Brands Index ranked Los Angeles as No. 6 on its list of the world's most stylish cities. Last year, the city didn't even crack the top 10, according to Forbes.com:

While L.A. is better-known for bleached blondes and bottled tans, a few serious fashion brands have emerged from the city over the last few years, including Rodarte -- whose designers won this year's Council of Fashion Designers of America's Womenswear Designer of the Year award -- and Band of Outsiders, designed by L.A.-based designer Scott Sternberg, who won this year's CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year award. What's more, the city houses quite a bit of modern architecture, including homes by Frank Lloyd Wright and Joseph Eichler.

The survey asked 10,000 people from 20 countries to rank 50 cities based on criteria such as restaurants, nightlife, climate, and physical attractiveness. The cities were also judged on lifestyle, buzz, multiculturalism, cultural life, and attractiveness.

Here's a list of the top 10:

  1. Paris, France
  2. Milan, Italy
  3. New York City, USA
  4. London, England
  5. Rome, Italy
  6. Los Angeles, USA
  7. Tokyo, Japan
