Michelle Dares to Wear Same Outfit Twice

First Lady Michelle Obama caused quite a stir among fashionistas Tuesday when she --- gasp! --- wore the same dress for a second time in three months.

On her first trip to New York since the inauguration, Obama donned a scoop-neck dress that she wore to the prayer service the day after her hubby was sworn in as president.

Obama’s affront to the fashion world occurred during a speech at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, where she thanked diplomats and staff for promoting her husband’s new foreign policy of global engagement. It's not the first time Michelle has worn the same outfit, she's also recycled a cardigan, a belt and a pair of shoes, among other articles.

Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, introduced the First Lady as “a regular human being ... down to earth, funny, charming and wicked smart." Rice obviously left out the part about her having a pauper’s sense of style. For anyone else, recycling outfits would not invite so much scruitiny, but the first lady is constanly under a fashion magnifying glass.

Perhaps the First Lady forgot her Maven-in-Chief duties because she was still buzzing from her play date with Elmo. Earlier in the day Obama stopped by Sesame Street, which she called the coolest experience she’s had since moving into the White House.

"I'm thrilled to be here, but I was just at 'Sesame Street' — I'm sorry," she said to the mission. "And I never thought I'd be on 'Sesame Street' with Elmo and Big Bird and I was thrilled. I'm still thrilled. I'm on a high."

"I think it's probably the best thing I've done so far in the White House. But we were there talking about nutrition and healthy eating, and it's just been a thrill," Mrs. Obama said.
