Ogle Batman's Cape and Michael's Sequin-y Glove

5 Falltacular Ways to Connect With Your Family
    The GRAMMY Museum
One of seven jackets on display in the Michael Jackson: HIStyle exhibit, on now through April 12 at the GRAMMY Museum.

If you can't make the ten -- yep, ten -- London concert dates for Michael Jackson that were recently announced, perhaps a trip to the GRAMMY Museum will do. Not only is it much closer (that is, if you're reading this in Los Angeles and not London), but fans can get much closer to the headline-nabbing singer's famous outfits. Michael Jackson: HIStyle, on display through April 12 at the GRAMMY Museum downtown, includes seven of the form-fitting jackets Jackson has become known for. And are there sequined within an centimeter of their fabric-y existences? You bet they are. There are also a pair of gloves in the show, although perhaps calling them a pair is misleading; they're two single gloves, of course, the single glove being one of the singer's more celebrated sartorial statements. Through April 12. 800 W. Olympic Boulevard, Los Angeles. 213-765-6800

Just a pop over from the GRAMMY Museum is the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, which is just about to close the curtains on its Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit, which has gathered together dozens of great get-ups from last year's top movies. That this exhibit is wrapping fills us with sadness, or, to use a more cinematic term, disconsolateness, because it means Oscar season is really and truly over. Plus, this is one of the more excellent annual shows around town, and one of the freest, too. And we may one day publish a 12-volume series about how much we like the wee-but-wonderful gift shop at FIDM. Not today, but one day. Through March 29. 919 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles. 213-624-1200, x2224
