M.A.C. Asks Designers to Get Catty for a Cause

We will admit that we don't fully understand the appeal of Hello Kitty, who, though adorable, never seems to have much of a personality. Luckily, cosmetic company M.A.C. has personality to spare, and they've funneled a ton of it into their collaboration with the Japanese kiddie icon.

(You might recall the photos from their launch, which, as a commenter vividly put it, involved models styled "like those transexual drag queens on Highland and Santa Monica.")

Alongside their beauty products, M.A.C. also rounded up an impressive list of designers to create outfits inspired by the friendly feline. They're currently auctioning those off on eBay, with proceeds going to benefit school of higher fashion learning FIT. We have a feeling Mariah Carey will end up with at least three.
