8/21: Morning Snapshot — The Emmy Plate

While we're waiting to get nominated for leading the hottest drama on television -- oh -- guess we have to try acting first, then get our big break, then spend like a decade or two busting our humps, and then get that lead, and nomination -- we can linger over photos from the Governor's Ball preview, which took place at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Thursday, August 20th.

The preview previewed a month ahead of the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards -- which are happening on September 20th -- and we're thinking it is a good thing, too; looks like there will be a lot of planning and heave-ho-ing to get this baby off the ground. The Sultan's Palace decor. The patterned streams of silk hanging from the ceiling of the West Hall at the LA Convention Center. Lanterns all around.

And cuisine by Joachim Splichal (who has been at the Primetime Emmy catering/cooking helm for nearly a decade and a half). On the menu: filet mignon, polenta ravioli with cauliflower, a potato salad with Medjool dates. And the official Emmy cocktail, of course, made with Grey Goose and orange bitters.

Would we mind sitting down, in our fancy designer frock, at one of the fabric'd-and-flower'd-out tables at the Governors Ball? Along with the 3,500 other guests? No. We would not mind. Especially if we had a little statue sitting next to our water glass.

Friday dreaming.
