Canter's Celebrates 60 With 60-Cent Corned Beef

The Canter brothers opened their first deli in Jersey City in 1924, brought it and their families to Boyle Heights in 1931, and finally opened Canter's on Fairfax Avenue in 1948. They actually moved to the current location in 1953, but it's that 1948 date that they like to celebrate, so next week the deli will have 60-cent corned beef sandwiches for all (side of potato salad and a pickle; one per customer, of course) on Tuesday (9/14) from noon to midnight. Not sure if it will attract the hordes Philippe's 100th did, but unlike some other 60th anniversary deals, this one is completely legit. For more stories from Eater LA, go to la.eater.com.
