Huy Fong Foods is Moving to Irwindale

Hot sauce maker to build new corporate headquarters.

Construction got under way  in Irwindale on Thursday on the new corporate headquarters of the hot sauce maker Huy Fong Foods Inc.

Best known for its Sriracha Hot Chile Sauce, Huy Fong Foods Inc. is moving from Rosemead to expand operations, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.

Huy Fong Foods Inc. produces about 20 million bottles of hot sauce a year, and company president William Tran said the 23-acre site at Azusa Canyon Road and Cypress Street will allow the company to make 10 times as much if needed.

Ground was broken this month on the California Mission-style building that will include 26,000 square feet of office space, 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 480,000 square feet of warehouse space.

Developer Craig Furniss, principal with Seventh Street Development, told the Tribune "we're on an expedited schedule and we hope to finish the building by June."

In addition to creating an estimated 190 jobs, Irwindale City Manager Sol Benudiz said the company's move will produce other positive impacts for the city.

The new Huy Fong Foods corporate office will become Irwindale's largest building when completed.
