Not every art lover can say they live in a town, or region, that boasts multiple Monets.
And yet there are Monsieur Monet's works at LACMA and the Getty and the Norton Simon. Clearly it is a profusion of riches (we won't say embarrassment, because that implies we might feel conflicted about all this artly goodness and we do not). Nope, LA isn't France, but there's plenty to keep the francophile happy.
Happy and full, we should say. The Langham Huntington in Pasadena is holding a Lunch with Monet on Saturday, March 24. Chef David Féau of The Royce will create a number of dishes that summon the world of the famed Impressionist, including Green I On Green (think flowers and legumes) and a Dover Sole dish.
Artist Nori Green will chat all things Giverny -- a location that stirs the Monet maven's heart -- during the luncheon as well.
This lunch says to us two things. One? That it must be spring, or nearly; we can almost feel the pop of buds when a soft-hued artist luncheon shows at one of our loveliest hotels. And two? If you know a Monet fan, and their birthday is anywhere in the next three months, this could be their gift. Paired with a visit to the Getty or the not-so-far-from-the-Langham Norton Simon Museum?
The cost is $65 per person, plus tax and tip. You'll want to reserve a spot, too.
