Non-Wallflower Wines Rule Night

We want to learn about wine. Perhaps Learn About Wine can help us. Oh sure, we know our favorite labels, covet and seek out our usual sips, and we always seem drift back to chardonnay if the temperature outside is over 55. Without fail.

What we're saying is we need to develop a more adventurous palate. Perhaps Learn About Wine's special night at The Grove can do that for us. Full Throttle and Voluptuous -- Big Wines for Big Times is not about ho-hum sips. The ones you always lean on. The bottle that occupies that one place in your refrigerator door. Same taste. Same.

Nope, LAW is going huge. Massive. The wine list is a long 'un, but look for petite syrahs from Santa Barbara, old-vine zins from Paso Robles, pinot noirs from Edna Valley. Almost a dozen wineries and shops are represented in all.

Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro is dishing up the savory, distinctly non-wine consumables of the night. And the ultimate beneficiary is the T.J. Martell Foundation, which assists Children's Hospital Los Angeles in the area of cancer research.

Wednesday, September 2nd, 7-9PM. $45 advance, $60 door. The Grove, Los Angeles.
