Red Velvet, Meet Creamy Pie

The time has come for two good ideas to come together.

We've heard that Monday, Dec. 20 is "the busiest shopping day of the year," but we'll also peg it as the day that people are finally getting their potluck plans and promised dishes together for the Christmas weekend.

Nobody, and we mean nobody, wants to be up making a green bean casserole at 5 a.m. on Christmas Day. Now, *eating* a green bean casserole on 5 a.m. on Christmas Day, with the lights off, at the kitchen counter, in your pajamas, is another story entirely. A delicious story.

This particular dessert caught our eye, in part because we've seen red velvet enter the annals of ice cream and candy and yes, cupcakes. The creamy cake style is now appearing in pie form at Marie Callender's. It's called the Red Velvet Dream, and it is $13.99.

Just roll the words "cream cheese" and "flaky crust" around in your noggin for a bit.

We'll also add that eating a slice of red velvet pie, at 5:10 a.m., on Christmas, after you've enjoyed some green bean casserole, in your pjs, should be a holiday tradition.
