The Dish: Chalet Edelweiss, SipTea, Grill on the Alley

Welcome back to The Dish opening report. Spot a debut we missed? Drop us a line.

WESTCHESTER/LAX: Just in time for Oktoberfest, Thrillist discovers the new-this-week Chalet Edelweiss, an ode to the the Swiss-born owner's homeland with the appropriate antique skis, alphorns, waiters in lederhosen, and faux pine tree and mountain mural on the patio. Pretzels with mustard, raclette cheese melted over potatoes, wiener schnitzel, bratwurst, fondue and other Bavarian favorites on the menu, plus German beers and beer-based cocktails and Swiss wines. DOWNTOWN: Angelenic has it that SipTea opens for business today on Broadway. Asian-inspired Zen theme with a nod to eco-friendliness, sandwiches and desserts on the menu, plus an extensive tea selection. No coffee—the smell interferes with the tea Zen experience—but there is free wifi. And the guys pictured above look nothing like dockworkers. [852 S Broadway, 213.622.8007; website]

WESTLAKE: Another Grill on the Alley opens at the Promenade at Westlake on Monday. Expect the similar fare as the original—steaks, chops, seafood, chicken pot pie, the classic cop—but probably fewer Entourage sightings. [120 E. Promenade Way, 805.418.1760; website]
