The Dish: Equator Restaurant & Bar, Brat's Brothers, Sandella's

Another day, another Dish opening report. See something we missed? Tip jar, please.

1) Pasadena: While lines at the Cheesecake Factory still never die, other places try and find the right formula for Old Town. The once-funky Equator coffeehouse has been renovated and is now the Equator Restuarant & Bar. There's a full menu of things like basil catfish, chicken satay, spicy tuna over crispy rice, and weekend dim sum made by chef/partner Jack Zhang's mother (har gow, pork siu mai, steamed bbq pork buns). This is a tough location (in an alley off of Colorado in Old Town), so specials like $1 martini Tuesdays kind of make sense. (22 Mills Place, 626.564.8656)

2) Mid-City: A new Brats Brothers Gourmet Sausage Grill opened in a La Cienega strip mall near the Beverly Center. All the favorites from the Valley original are in place: German, Hungarian, Rancher, Cajun sauasages, sauerkraut, onions, chili, the works. (8516 West 3rd St)

3) Hollywood: A tipster alerted us that the Sandella's Flatbread opened in the same complex (Hollywood Galaxy Shopping Center) as the newish Fresh & Easy last week. Expect sandwiches, paninis, quesadillas, and salads made with brick-oven flatbread. The 125-plus location chain has their sights on a downtown location next.
