The Village Idiot Isn't So Stupid

Once the rash of burglaries and muggings hit the neighborhood---with no suspects found or arrested---management of the Village Idiot on Melrose hired security guards to keep an eye on things and escort staff to their cars after hours. That really paid off early Saturday morning when, after walking an employee to her car, the Idiot's X-Zero bike officer stumbled upon a man being held at gunpoint by three men near Martel Avenue and Waring Street. After confronting the lookout guy, he called the police, and all three fled on foot. The police later found the suspects with the sawed-off shotgun used for the robbery, and all were arrested on the scene. Whether they were responsible for any of the other crimes in the area is yet to be seen, but mad props to the Idiot for hiring that guard.
