Characters running in movies?

You don't have to ponder too long to come up with one, two, or a dozen examples of various movie stars dashing through busy cities, up flights of stairs, over bridges, and to whatever destination they need to reach, in order to advance the plot, ASAP.

But actually running through an area where movies are regularly made?

That happens far less, and, when it does, you can almost bet there's some Minion magic to the process.

And so there shall be, over the second weekend of May 2019, when the 5K Minion Run hoofs it through, yes, the world-famous Universal Studios Hollywood backlot.

Here's the twist, though: The run, when first announced in the fall of 2018, sold out faster than a Minion can devour a banana or scheme to take over the world (in that order).

So a second run has been added to the schedule. The date? Sunday, May 12, the day after run #1 on Saturday, May 11.

This new date shall also sell out, as assuredly as runners will see all sorts of iconic sights while legging it around the hilly spread adjacent to the Universal soundstages.

There are a couple of options for signing up, including a $45 Fan Package, if you want to be at the finish line and part of the "animated" action (nope, this doesn't include race registration).

Want to run? That's $75, for a standard package.

Want to go VIP? The fee is $135, and, oh goodness, it includes a "1-on-1 meet and greet with Illumination's Minions."

That is, as a Minion might say, in his own inimitable way, bananas.

And if you want to visit the theme park post-race, and catch some rides and shows, there's a package for that, too. It starts at $169.

Truly, when will you get another opportunity to run by Minions? They'll be on the sidelines, all to support your stride, which is amazing and weird all at once.

Wamazing? Yes, that. And life doesn't offer nearly enough wamazing opportunities.

And when will get a chance to run around a fabled backlot, too?

And near the "Psycho" house and Bates Motel, which feel like two places you actually might really want to run from, quite quickly?

It's all so super-rare, Minion mavens, so tie on your trainers and book your spot faster than a certain bright yellow superstar can unpeel, and devour, their favorite fruit.
