Your kid, being a kid, probably does some pretty convincing impressions. They might replicate a kitten's meow or break into a Woody Woodpecker-like laugh or do a growly noise that sounds like thunder.
But speaking Minionese is probably way, way up there on their list of performing talents, these days. A few years ago the word "minions" wasn't much in the common parlance, nor was the unique way that the Minions communicated in 2010's "Despicable Me," but pretty much every parent has heard some Minionese.
Make that a lot of Minionese over the last few years.
What to do, where to go and what to see
If you've got a Minions maven in the house, you can take them to see the real, live, overall-rocking henchmen when the cinematic baddies swing by Universal CityWalk to party ahead of the release of "Minions," their big-screen, self-titled feature.
Make that party over two nights, Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10. The sunshine-hued cuddlies'll be bopping around the stage at 5 Towers while overseeing "Minions"-themed giveaways.
And they oversee things quite handily, given their fashion-setting goggles.
The advance screenings of the film, which stars Sandra Bullock, kick off at 6 p.m. on July 9. And inside Universal Studios Hollywood, should you be in a theme park mood? Yep, there's a ride Minionists: Despicable Me Minion Mayhem (in 3D). Word has it that Minions will also be frolicking around Super Silly Fun Land, an interactive play zone.
The CityWalk stuff is free to see and maybe you'll walk away with a goodie bearing the goggle-wearing icons.
1. Are we going to be in a world of trouble with the Minions for calling them "sunshine-hued cuddlies"? Because they are dang cuddly.
2. Are you ready to hear more Minionese from your kids, starting with the film's release? And did you know there are several Youtube videos instructing one in the all of the Minionese-speaking arts?
What a world.
