The typical emotion that overcomes a person as they approach a place that's said to be haunted, to be full of ghouls and creepy clowns and eeky sights that inspire the prickling of one's skin?
Dread. Fear. A desire to hightail it out of there, never to return.
But the exact opposite is happening with the Ghost Train, the seasonal, only-semi-scary choo-choo from the LA Live Steamers Railroad Museum.
The beloved train, which is open to kids and grown-ups alike, took a break in 2016, leaving devotees of the ride, which wends through spooky scenes and displays in an atmospheric corner of Griffith Park, more blue than Halloween orange.
What to do, where to go and what to see
A welcome return in 2017, however, brought cheers from Ghost Train enthusiasts, and high interest, and a desire to book a ticket ahead of time to the popular event.
So, for the first time ever, the Ghost Train has made advance tickets available, a brand-new feature due to recent fan demand.
You can guess that tickets are flying faster than a witch flies upon a broomstick, and some nights sold out in a jiffy. But happy and haunting news: Advance tickets for 2017 are still plentiful, so walk far faster than a mummy to this site to secure your spot.
And, yes: Tickets are available, as of this typing, for Halloween night 2017.
All that said, take heart if you just don't know what night you and the family can go yet: Stand-by tickets, long the way of doing things at the Ghost Train, will still be available during each night of the 2017 run.
And that run opens on Friday, Oct. 13. The Ghost Train won't chugga-chugga every night through Halloween, but will welcome brave souls on 11 select nights right through to Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Your advance $20 ticket? You can board the ticket train here.
Arriving at the Ghost Train, when you go? Look for two queues: One for guests who buy their ticket on site, that night, and a line for those with a pre-purchased ticket.
If you do pre-purchase, just be sure to have your print-out with you or the ticket on your mobile device ready to show.
