PizzaRev Glendale Giveback: Pay What You Want

Swing by the build-your-own pie shop and help out "Pizzas with a Purpose."

A restaurant's grand opening can truly cover the spectrum in terms of what the customers find when they arrive, what the eatery is up to on its side, and the ultimate vibe of the day, be it balloons or clowns or not much of anything.

But creating a whole philanthropic giveback event, with a pay-what-you-want theme, is a very nice way to say hello to your new community, to share some sup-worthy bites with that community, and help out people in the neighborhood.

PizzaRev will do just that on Thursday, Dec. 17 when it unveils its Glendale eatery (and its 29th location overall). Definitely, the build-your-own-pizza thing that the LA-started company is known for will be in full, gooey bloom, but customers will be asked to pay what they want.

There is a suggested donation of eight bucks, so know that ahead of time, and learn more about Ascensia, the opening day's Glendale-based beneficiary. It's an organization that's "working to end homelessness in the greater Glendale area," and every dollar you pay for your pizza on Dec. 17 will assist the group in their important, community-nice mission.

The event, which is billed as "Pizzas with a Purpose," begins when the Wilson-at-Brand Boulevard pie shop opens (it's a notch north of the Glendale Galleria).

Opening day for the eatery continues into the weekend, with a Social Media Fan Appreciation Night on Sunday, Dec. 20 and a sweepstakes that involves free pizza for a year. Want to know more? The PizzaRev site is loaded with the info you need.

As for loaded discs of oven-fired dough, take a look at what's on offer at the boutique chain of chewy-cheesy food-makers. There are the pre-suggested pies — they're popular — and there's the chance to go your own road before a spread of quality ingredients.
