BEVERLY HILLS: It's official. Joachim Splichal's Paperfish on Maple Drive closed this week. Splichal blames the economy, but Eater suspects the lackluster food didn't really help.

DOWNTOWN: While Cedd Moses nears completion of his Cole's renovation, Eater learns that there will be a "back room" speakeasy run by Sasha Petraske of NY's Milk & Honey fame (and Osteria Mozza's cocktail menu). Look for a December opening.

DOWNTOWN: Now open in the Arts District's Barker Block, another Urth Caffe. How is this Urth different from all other Urths? According to Eater, "this one has windows to the kitchen, interactive tastings and courses, coffee-roasting classes and a 'test' program where guests can sample the cafe's 'innovations.'"For more stories from Curbed LA, go to la.curbed.com.
