    LOS ANGELES:
The Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA/LA) has finalized the nominees for this year's Restaurant Design Awards. Eater LA has put together a little photo gallery to honor this year's finalists, as well as a full list of the design and/or architecture firms.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Well, that was fast. Italian restaurant Crudo on Sunset was barely even open before it closed this week for "restructuring." Is the space truly cursed (Norman's was the previous tenant)? Or could it be the restaurant itself, that seemed to be riddled with problems (including not having its namesake on the menu).

VENICE: Abbot Kinney's Stroh's Gourmet Market closed this week. Rising rents are again blamed for the closure. Rumor has it "a woman will do a macrobiotic thing" in the space.

DOWNTOWN: Philippe'sturns 100 this month and what better way to celebrate than eating delicious cholesterol bombs for just 10 cents. Yup, the French dipped sandwich will be 10 cents on Oct 6 from 4-8pm and if that 10 cent cup of joe seems too spendy, the coffee is just 5 cents. Some photo history after the jump.
