There was a lot of buzz back in January when it was announced that a Holiday Inn was headed to the Historic Core, slated to occupy a building on Spring Street between 4th and 5th streets. Given that another big hotel is planned for across the street, there was much excitement about the development of this stretch of Spring Street. But there's only one problem: Executives at Holiday Inn have never heard of this forthcoming hotel. Back in July, a spokesperson told us no hotels were planned for downtown Los Angeles. Thinking maybe there was a mistake or that their information wasn't current, we emailed again this morning. Here's the response: "I’ve checked our pipeline, and the only properties we have coming to Los Angeles are on Airport Boulevard and Hawthorne Boulevard." Was it all a pipe dream?
