Just Another Day in Awesometown (Valencia)

Turns out, the Lonely Island comedy troupe has more in common with Valencia than we thought.

Next time the guys from the Lonely Island are in Southern California, they may have to make a stop in Valencia.

As part of Newhall Land's pro-Valencia campaign, the area has been dubbed "Awesometown."

For the TV historians out there, that moniker may sound familiar. "Awesometown" was a 2005 Fox pilot starring the Lonely Island comedy troupe, notes Michael Schneider of Franklin Avenue.

The ensemble -- comprised of Akiva Schaffer (the brains of the group), Andy Samberg (a sandwich lover) and Jorma Taccone (the sensitive one) -- are best known for their SNL Digital Shorts.

Despite the pilot never getting picked up, it looks like "Awesometown" is alive and well.

The Valencia campaign was launched a few weeks ago by Newhall Land, the master developer of the community.

The Awesometown theme was an easy choice after residents continued to describe the community as, well, awesome, says Marlee Lauffer of Newhall Land.
