Yesterday a photo of the wrong clock at the LA Timesran on the site, so here's a photo taken today of the right clock, its hands still clearly missing (lord knows what happened to that confused bus rider). As previously noted, the hands disappeared in the last couple of months. Official word from a LA Times spokesperson: "The original mechanism that powers the neon lights in the hands completely wore out. The new ones have to be custom built and will take another 30 days. Evidently, this is the same procedure we had to undertake with the South facing clock about a year ago." Meanwhile, yesterday the LA Times' parent company Tribune Company reported a third-quarter loss of $124 million, compared with earnings of $84 million for the same period last year, according to Paid Content. Revenues declined 10 percent, to $1 billion, and you don't even want to know about the dip in cash flow. Just be grateful the clock is being repaired at all.
