Collection Previews: Hero Worship at Anya Hindmarch Resort, Spring/Summer '09 Preview

Who are the silent heroes of LA Fashion Week? The backstage help? The overworked Smashbox valets? The Hills' own Whitney Port? Well, on Robertson Boulevard, look no further than accessory queen and designer Anya Hindmarch's sweet boutique, where every season she designates a new "Hero" piece—a.k.a. the "it" bag of the coming season's collection.

[Sidebar: Have Anya and Rachel Zoe been talking, and did Rachel bite Anya's style or vice versa, or is it just a cosmic collision of fashion lexicon?!]

This week, writers, editors and shoppers alike gathered around resort, spring and summer 09's leading lady: The Jackson with chain shoulder strap (particularly in grey). And Hindmarch's attention to detail was evident in everything from party favors to actual designs:

Interested parties were welcomed with elderberry spritzers (yum), brownies (double yum) wrapped in Hindmarch's own quirky packaging, Fashion Week Fuel (chocolate and candied nut-filled trail mix) and luxe manicures by women in white "Anya Hindmarch's Beauty Girls" coats.

Oversized Apple clutches (an ingenious trend in our estimation) are offered in warm weather wicker and glace leather, as well. Bright colors from yellow to cobalt to cherry red also enthralled. "This season is very geometric and has a kind of disco vibe," notes USA PR Director Ashley Wick.

And, of course, the designer can't abandon her signature eco-market bags, but now she's created leather strapped totes with a Provencal-feel, each labeled with designations like "Dry Cleaning," "Laundry" or "Fruits and Vegetables."

Even business card holders, cosmetic bags and suitcases have thoughtful organizational details like "In" and "Out" slots for cards or specific pockets for computer cords and chargers. The collection will deliver from November through January.

With such beautiful lines and materials and some practical (gasp!) common sense, Anya Hindmarch's hero bag (and cohorts) can save our day anytime.
