Needed: Sassy Bibs, Grown-Up Baubles, Funky Flair

What a DIY, be-cool-and-be-creative kind of week it has been. Hands-On 3rd is now open, and now teaching people how to sew and garden and take pretty pictures. And it was announced that funny lady Amy Sedaris is penning her next book, which is all crafts, all the time.

And Unique Los Angeles, a gargantuan, brimming-with-nice-things extravaganza, unfurls at the California Market Center May 2 and 3. What's there? Well, the name says so much: unique creations in a variety of forms. Well over two hundred makers-of-neat-stuff will be present with the items they have created; think bracelets and hats and prints and yummy bites and baby togs and and and.... You get it. "Lots and lots" are the operative words here.

Also intriguing: Etsy will have a DIY booth, there's a DJ, and photo booth.

Unique Los Angeles, on its web site, kindly reminds us that Mother's Day draws near. The items available do indeed feel a bit Mom-ish, but also a bit anyone-who-likes-items-with-funky-flair-ish, too. If you have a toe in both of those categories, best get downtown. 110 East Ninth Street, LA.
